"Everyone assumes I know the answer. Usually I do. When I don't, I've learned to look thoughtful and wait. Someone always fills the silence with exactly what I needed to know." — an owlin senator of Aethovenezia
Owlin were once human. Long ago, Aurath, the god of knowledge, blessed a line of seekers who wanted to understand above all else, and over the generations they became owlin: feathered folk with wide, watchful eyes, silent wings and a gift for noticing what others miss. They vary in size, from small to medium, but nearly all are looked upon as wise, whether or not they've earned it.
Names
Owlin follow the naming customs of Aetheria. Examples:

Owlin by Homeland
Aetheria
Owlin live in Aetheria, where they work as scholars and serve as senators. Many honour Valthera, the Spirit of Wisdom, who is herself depicted as an owlin in silver-feathered armor, and her philosophy shapes Senate law. Since the gods of Nova beyond The Twelve come from worship, some owlin quietly believe Valthera took her shape from them.
