Glacithar is one of the five continents of Nova.
Overview
Geography
Glacithar is a rugged, icy continent in Nova’s polar region, stretching about 1,500 miles north to south. It features towering fjord-carved mountains, vast glaciers, and snow-swept tundras. The Astral Moon casts a silvery sheen over the landscape, mimicking the Northern Lights, while the Umbral Moon deepens the shadows of ancient rune-carved caves, hiding Aetheric rifts from the First Shattering. Ebon Scales, fragments of the shattered Ebon Moon, are frozen in ice or buried under snow, emitting a faint, ominous warmth that draws draconic and human attention.
Climate and Hazards
The climate is bitterly cold, averaging -25°F (-32°C), with blizzards reducing visibility to 10 feet. Ice Fissures threaten travelers, while Aetheric Rifts cause chaotic effects. Avalanches are common on slopes, and Rune Traps guard sacred sites.
Culture
The Jötnar Clans are Glacithar’s nomadic inhabitants. They travel in longships or sled caravans pulled by Icewolves, living in temporary halls of ice and wood. Clans are led by Jarls, warrior-chieftains, and guided by Skalds, lorekeepers who invoke the gods. They worship the Æsir of the Frost, a Norse-inspired pantheon.
History
Glacithar was once a realm of frost giants and Aether-wielding seers, devastated by the First Shattering, which froze its cities and scattered Ebon Scales. The Jötnar Clans arose from survivors, adapting Norse-like traditions. Recent Order and Ravus activity suggests Glacithar holds a shard of Klythar’s power, drawing adventurers to its frozen wilds.
