First Shattering

The Dawnforge War ends with Dawn Haven's fall. Dawn Haven fell when Klythar broke out of his prison (the Ebon Moon), after the Ouroboros Cult interrupted the ritual in Dawn Haven meant to reinforce the prison, triggering the First Shattering.

Continental rifts deepen, aetheric fonts destabilize, and the Shattering prophecy spreads, concerning the Shattering where the moon Sundered and Klythar broke free, which held that Klythar would end the world, though he disappeared instead.

In 6352, adventurers are summoned from a thousand years in the past to prevent a second Shattering (see Triad-Ravus War).

The lost third moon

The realm once had a third moon but due to circumstances that moon was destroyed in an event that would come to be known as The First Shattering. This shattering took place during an event that would later be called the Dawnforge War. Where Dawn Haven, the capital of the one continental country that Roh-ber then was, fell when a powerful creature that threatened the world broke out of its prison, after an ancient cult of dragons, the Ouroboros Cult, interrupted the ritual in Dawn Haven meant to reinforce that prison.

That creature was Klythar, the Ebon Wyrm. See also the Calendar.

The Ebon Moon, Klythar’s prison, was the realm’s third moon. In The First Shattering a thousand years ago, Klythar’s Teraflare fury obliterated the Ebon Moon prison, scattering Ebon Scales across Roh-ber; Klythar retreated to the Eboncrater, a massive Ebon Moon fragment.

In the First Shattering, the Ebon Moon fractured and cracked, raining Ebon Scales and chunks of the moon across Nova. A massive fragment crashed into Roh-ber, forming the Eboncrater.

Nova once had three moons: the Astral Moon, the Umbral Moon, and the Ebon Moon. The modern world has only two moons (Astral and Umbral).

The nations that followed

Before the Shattering, Roh-ber was all one continental country. After the Shattering, its remnants grew into their own cultures and then into nations: Sylvaris, Aurumhold, Tidegate and the Ravus Empire, which grew out of the ashes of the Shattering. Only Sylvaris, Aurumhold and Tidegate are the Triad.

The Shattering prophecy

The Shattering prophecy refers to the Shattering where the moon Sundered and Klythar broke free. It alludes that Klythar was supposed to end the world, but he did not, as he disappeared.
