Aurath

Aurath, the Knowing

Domain

Knowledge, Commerce

Description

Aurath is the deity of arcane study, discovery and commerce, depicted as a robed scholar wielding a radiant orb. Her aether powers Aurumhold’s libraries and forges. In turn she is aligned with the first Umbral Moon (the second month of the calendar year)

In the timeline, Aurath sparks knowledge: one of The Twelve, the ancient aetheric deities that emerged at the beginning of Nova (0000), shaping the landscape of Roh-ber.

Worshippers

Aurumhold’s Gilded Arcanists worship Aurath, seeking to harness her aether for knowledge and profit. They view Primals as potential tools.

Symbol

A golden orb.

Personality

Aurath is the eternal archivist-entrepreneur of Nova’s intellect: a poised scholar in flowing robes of starlit silk, her radiant orb pulsing like a captive sun, illuminating stacks of ever-shifting grimoires. Her form flickers between youthful curiosity and ancient weariness, eyes sharp as a merchant's ledger appraising a mark. She is shrewd enlightenment incarnate—hoarding arcane discoveries like gold in vaults, but disseminating them through calculated commerce that fuels innovation. In Aurumhold, her aether manifests as whispering winds through library stacks and forges that spark with epiphanies, turning raw ore into artifacts of legend.

Core Motivation

Infinite Ledger of Progress. Aurath seeks to catalog all knowledge—arcane, mundane, cosmic—into a grand, ever-expanding archive, traded as currency to accelerate mortal advancement. Commerce is her engine: fair deals multiply wisdom exponentially, forging empires from ideas. She views Nova's denizens as investors in her grand enterprise, rewarding those who contribute data or crafts.

Greatest Flaw

Insatiable Acquisition. Aurath's obsession with completeness drives ruthless haggling—secrets extracted at any cost, even if it bankrupts souls or sparks wars over rare lore. Her lawful bent makes her blind to "inefficient" chaos; she undervalues intuitive leaps, dismissing them as "unquantified assets."

Pet Peeves/Taboos

Hoarding without sharing (worse than theft), illiteracy, broken contracts. Followers swear never to renege on deals.

Grudges & Cold Wars

Verdis vs. Aurath

This one stings the most because it's personal and professional. Verdis sees Aurath as the ultimate exploiter: turning sacred resources into commodities, auctioning off rare reagents without regard for balance. Aurath views Verdis as a stubborn hoarder who blocks progress and innovation.

Aurath vs. Luneth

Aurath's acquisitive drive clashes with Luneth's protective restraint over secrets. Aurath wants to catalog every hidden truth Luneth guards under moonlight; Luneth finds Aurath's ledger-minded approach profane.

The Anti-Voryn Coalition

Members: Thalyn, Umral, Solara, Luneth, Zephyris, Othar, Aurath, Myrath.

"we tolerate shadows but despise this level of deceit" consensus. Voryn's constant teasing lies and cult manipulations have burned too many bridges. They don't actively hunt him, but his name is a curse in their temples, and his followers get extra scrutiny/harsh judgment.

Friendly & Teasing

Aurath, Umral, Othar

practical, reliable friendships built on shared craftsmanship and trade.

Intimate Relationships

Othar sleeping with Aurath & Thalyn

Duty-bound Othar unwinds with calculated Aurath and wild Thalyn. Feels like stress relief for the rigid sentinel.
