Fire
Appearance
A fierce figure with flaming form, wielding a hammer that sparks lava, presence igniting the air of Kiyomura’s forges.
Role in Society
Master of Kiyomura’s forges, he is worshipped by smiths and alchemists, shaping weapons and tools.
Rituals and Symbols
Forge Prayers involve crafting in volcanic heat, his symbol—a hammer with flames—carved on anvils.
Personality
Intense and transformative, Kagutsuchi drives creation through destruction, demanding respect.
Kagutsuchi is the living heart of Kiyomura’s volcanic forges: a fierce, ever-shifting figure whose body is composed of living flame and molten rock, skin cracking to reveal rivers of lava beneath, eyes blazing like coals. His presence ignites the air—heat ripples, sparks dance, metal glows before it’s even struck. He wields Enryū no Tsuchi, a massive tool that trails lava sparks with every swing, capable of shaping steel or shattering stone in a single blow. Kagutsuchi is intense transformative inferno incarnate—passionate, relentless, and demanding, he drives creation through destruction: old metal must melt to become new, impurities must burn away for purity to emerge. He respects the skilled artisan who dares to face his heat, but consumes the careless or arrogant without hesitation.
Core Motivation
To Forge Strength Through Consuming Fire. Kagutsuchi sees fire as the ultimate catalyst—destruction that enables rebirth, weakness burned away to reveal enduring power.
Greatest Flaw
Uncontrolled Conflagration. Kagutsuchi’s intensity can spiral beyond control—his flames may consume more than intended, destroying good work or loyal smiths in moments of unchecked rage.
Pet Peeves/Taboos
Cowardice before the flame (refusing heat), shoddy work (rushed forging), wasting fire (letting forges die cold). Followers vow to "feed the flame with sweat and skill"—neglect invites his wrath.
Sacred Sites
Sakurajima’s volcanic hot springs and caves are sacred to Inari, Ryujin, and Kagutsuchi; its Hot Spring Shrine is a temple to Kagutsuchi.
Kami Pantheon
Kagutsuchi is one of the nine deities of the Kami Pantheon of Ezogashima. Gods other than The Twelve come into being through the worship of sentient races: their worshippers determine both their shape and their existence.
