Timeline of Nova

Nova Timeline (Full Chronological Order). Present day for the campaign: 6352.

Primordial Era (0000–2000)

  • 0000: Beginning of Nova

Dragons dominate the skies, Giants the land, and Fairies the fonts.

  • Circa 1000: War of the First Races

    • A devastating conflict erupts between Dragons, Giants, and Fairies over aetheric fonts. Dragons unleash fiery assaults, Giants shatter the earth, and Fairies manipulate aether, caught in the crossfire.
    • The war fractures Roh-ber, creating new continents—Glacithar, Ezogashima, Sanctara, and Aetheria—through tectonic upheaval. The three races suffer massive losses, weakening their dominance.
  • Circa 2000: Creation of New Life

    • With the first races decimated, The Twelve intervene, channeling aetheric energy to create new sentient races: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Tabaxi, Kenku, Aasimar, and others across the continents. Dragons spawn Dragonborn and Kobolds to regain their numbers.
    • Aetheric fonts stabilize, becoming focal points for the new races’ settlements.

Era of Arcana (2001–3000)

  • Circa 2001: Discovery of Magic

    • The new races tap into aetheric fonts, unlocking magic. Glacithar’s settlers harness ice spells, Ezogashima’s volcanic energy, Sanctara’s mist rituals, and Aetheria’s canal flows.
    • Dragons channel aether to create Klythar, a god of destruction, to reclaim dominance.
  • Circa 2500: Birth of Early Nations

    • Primitive nations emerge: Glacithar’s Frost Clans unite under ice chieftains, Ezogashima’s Ember Tribes forge volcanic strongholds, Sanctara’s Mist Confederacies establish ritual sites, and Aetheria’s Canal Guilds build trade outposts.
    • Tensions grow over aetheric font control, with magic fueling these societies.
  • Circa 2900: Rise of New Pantheons

  • 3000: Prelude to Shattering

    • Rising magic and pantheon conflicts destabilize the continents. Klythar’s influence grows, setting the stage for the Dragon dominance.

Age of Dawn Haven (3001–5352)

  • Circa 3100: Birth of Dawn Haven

    • In Roh-ber, Dawn Haven rises as a utopian society near a convergence of aetheric fonts, blending the magical traditions of the regions that would later become Sylvaris, Aurumhold, and Tidegate. Drawing from The Twelve’s aetheric energy, it becomes a center of harmony and innovation.
  • Circa 3500: Imprisonment of Klythar

    • Dawn Haven’s mages trap Klythar, the Ebon Wyrm, in a prison that then becomes the Ebon Moon using aetheric seals, driven by fear of Dragon dominance. The Dragons retreat, humiliated, to hidden lairs.
  • Circa 4000: Rise of the Ouroboros Cult

    • Dragons form the Ouroboros Cult to free Klythar, building strength with Dragonborn and Kobolds as warriors and spies, primarily in Glacithar and Ezogashima.
    • Dawn Haven’s influence wanes as internal divisions grow.
  • Circa 5000: Formation of Modern Nations

  • Circa 5200: Beginning of the Dawnforge War

    • The Dawnforge War erupts as Dawn Haven seeks to control all aetheric fonts, clashing with the Ouroboros Cult and other nations. Glacithar, Ezogashima, Sanctara, and Aetheria resist.
    • The war escalates, with Dawn Haven’s magic pitted against the Cult’s rituals.
  • 5352: Fall of Dawn Haven and The First Shattering

    • The Dawnforge War ends with Dawn Haven’s fall. Dawn Haven fell when Klythar broke out of his prison, after the Ouroboros Cult interrupted the ritual in Dawn Haven meant to reinforce the prison, triggering the First Shattering.
    • Continental rifts deepen, aetheric fonts destabilize, and the Shattering prophecy spreads, concerning the Shattering where the moon Sundered and Klythar broke free, which held that Klythar would end the world, though he disappeared instead.
    • See The First Shattering: the realm's third moon was destroyed; Dawn Haven fell when Klythar broke out of his prison, after an ancient cult of dragons, the Ouroboros Cult, interrupted the ritual in Dawn Haven meant to reinforce the prison.
