Genasi

"Her mother tended the hot springs for forty years. The day the girl was born, the water in the shrine wouldn't stop steaming. We knew before the midwife said a word." — a shrine keeper of Sakurajima

Genasi are born to people with a deep connection to the Aether of a single element, like a shugenja who has spent a lifetime among volcanic springs or a sailor who has read the winds for decades. Sometimes the bond passes to their child, and the element shows in them: ember-bright skin, hair that drifts like it's underwater, a voice that carries on the wind, or skin veined like stone. Most genasi are born into communities that already live close to their element, and they're often treated as a sign of that bond.

Names

Genasi carry the names of their parents' culture, so a fire genasi of Ezogashima is named like any other child of the Shogunate. Examples:

  • Homura Tetsuya, a fire genasi and Daimyo of the Shogunate
  • Ilsa Corrow, an air genasi of Port Solace
  • Maren Ashcombe, a water genasi of the Aetherian lagoons
  • Teodric Ironhand, an earth genasi born to a dwarven mining family

Genasi by Homeland

Sanctara

Air genasi of Sanctara are wind-borne mystics, and many pass through Port Solace, Sanctara's most welcoming port.

Ezogashima

Fire genasi of Ezogashima are volcanic mystics. Sakurajima Clan genasi craft talismans and Aetheric Silk at the Hot Spring Shrine, and Daimyo Homura Tetsuya rules the Shogunate.

Aetheria

Water genasi of Aetheria are mystics of the lagoons.

Tidegate

Water and air genasi come to Tidegate on the sea trade, and some water genasi serve with the Riverwardens purifying the Tidewell.

Aurumhold

Earth genasi of Aurumhold work the mines and seams alongside the dwarves and goliaths.

Glacithar

Earth genasi of Glacithar live in the deep tunnels.
