Aarakocra are among Nova's youngest species. When the Spirits of the Aether rose to godhood, Aurelis blessed those who worshipped him most devoutly, and over time they took on wings and feathers in his image. Their descendants are born navigators who read winds and stars by instinct, and in Aetheria that gift has carried them as far as the Senate. Most feel a restless pull to travel, and an aarakocra who stays grounded too long tends to grow uneasy.
Names
Aarakocra choose their own names. Each picks a name after their first long flight, usually from something they saw or felt up there, such as a sound, a place or a sky. Some change it again after a journey that changed them, and no one finds that strange. Examples include Skylark, Kestrin, Windmere and Reedwhistle.
