Nantwich

Nantwich is a small village in the jungles of Sylvaris, northwest of the Eboncrater and about 85 miles from the capital, Verdantspire, home to a few dozen families of wood elves alongside humans, halflings, gnomes and fey-kin. Its homes are built into the branches of the great trees, linked by rope bridges and lantern-lit walkways high above the jungle floor. The villagers live by herbalism, hunting and trade with passing travelers, and while they are wary of strangers at first, they're quick to share a meal with those who earn their trust. On clear days the jagged rocks around the crater can be seen on the horizon, and the villagers keep watch for the creatures that sometimes wander out of the wastes.

Leadership

Nantwich is led by its Speaker, Rowan Elmsong, a wood elf who has led the village for decades. Rowan is nonbinary and goes by they/them. They're calm and soft-spoken, and they listen far more than they talk, which is exactly why the village chose them. They know every family and every path through the jungle around Nantwich. They're cautious with strangers, but they're fair. Earn their trust and they'll open the village to you.

Rowan lives in Nantwich with their family: their partner, Sorrel Elmsong (he/him), and their 25-year-old son, Alder Elmsong, who is still only a child in elf years.

When the party arrives

Having been pointed toward Sylvaris by the rogue dragon, the party stumbles upon Nantwich. The villagers are wary at first, but Speaker Rowan Elmsong hears them out. Rowan explains that they're still in Roh-ber, only 1,000 years after the fall of Dawn Haven. The Ebon Moon is gone, Dawn Haven is a forgotten ruin, and Roh-ber is now split between the Ravus Empire and the Triad nations. Rowan gives them directions to Verdantspire, the capital of Sylvaris. From there the party can travel on foot or join a trade caravan heading to the capital.
