Tabaxi

"You will not hear the tabaxi scout arrive. You will only notice, some time later, that she already knows everything you came to hide." — from a Kiyomura magistrate's report

Tabaxi are quick, graceful and endlessly curious, drawn to secrets, stories and far horizons. A tabaxi's interest can burn hot and then move on just as fast, but while it lasts, nothing escapes their notice. That makes them some of Nova's finest scouts, spies and pathfinders, and the sharpest-eyed traders on any dock.

Names

Tabaxi and Felis share the same naming custom. A first name always begins with the letter representing the tribe, followed by an apostrophe, and then the given name. The last name is the first name of the tribe's male who sired them. For example, N'bolata Raha is Bolata of the N tribe, sired by N'raha, the tribe's sire.

The apostrophe is not a pause. H'amneko is said "ham-NEH-ko", not "huh. am-neh-ko".

Other examples include A'zumyn Bhen, H'amneko Odh and J'nangho Tyaka.

In colloquial speech amongst close friends and companions, sometimes the tribe letter will be dropped from the first name.

Tabaxi by Homeland

Ezogashima

Tabaxi are the shadows and swift feet of the Shogunate. They ride Sakura Raptors as scouts, lead the trade caravans of Kiyomura and serve as ninja of the Tsukishima Clan. Some have risen to lead clans of their own, like Daimyo K'tsuhra Mhoko.

Tidegate

Tabaxi of Tidegate run the decks and dance the winds as Windweavers and Squallcallers, serving in the fleets that hold back the Ravus. Their markets and patterns are part of Tidegate's famous mix.

Subspecies

Felis
