"I was built to wind the clocks along the canal. Now I'm paid to wind them, and I get a vote on who repairs the canal. It's the same work. It feels entirely different." — an autognome of Aethovenezia
Autognomes come from the same technology and the same idea as warforged, a machine in the form of a person. Dwarven artificers in Aetheria built them small and gnome-shaped, nimble enough for the fine work of canal-city clocks and mechanisms, and some of them woke up the same way. Not every one wakes, and most are still just machines.
Names
Autognomes usually keep the short work-name their maker gave them, sometimes with the name of their workshop added. Examples:
- Tock of Brassbell
- Gimble
- Tinsel Copperpot

Aetheria
Aetheria was quick to grant autognomes citizenship. If you're a part of society, you're just a person. Many work in the canal cities as inventive tinkerers, crafting marvels for Aethovenezia.
