Leonin

"Korath teaches that you don't run from a fight you can win, and you don't start one you can't. Most of my job is making sure nobody in the canals forgets the second part." — a leonin guard of Aethovenezia

Leonin are cousins of the tabaxi. Long ago, a people of tabaxi settled in Aetheria, and slowly, over many generations, they adapted to its open lands. They grew larger and broader, with heavy manes and a proud, upright bearing, built more for standing their ground than for slipping through shadows. Leonin take great pride in their strength, and even when a tabaxi or Felis is plainly the older of the two, a leonin will treat them like a little sibling. Today they're known as warriors, and many serve as senators.

Names

Leonin keep the tabaxi naming custom. A first name begins with the letter of their tribe, followed by an apostrophe and the given name, and their last name is the first name of the male who sired them. Examples:

  • S'arik Tavo, Arik of the S tribe, sired by S'tavo
  • M'zara Okon, Zara of the M tribe, sired by M'okon

Leonin by Homeland

Aetheria

Leonin live in Aetheria as warriors and guards, and some serve as senators. Many honour Korath, the Spirit of Conquest, who is depicted as a black leonin with a white mane, and his philosophy shapes the Senate's defense debates.
