Minotaurs

"A scholar once asked my grandfather where our people came from. He handed her a sack of stone and said, 'Carry this to the top of the hill, and then ask me again.' She never did come back to ask." — a minotaur stonemason of Aethovenezia

No one knows where the minotaurs came from, and most minotaurs don't care to argue about it. Like the goblins, many minotaurs still live wild and aggressive, raiding in herds and treated more like beasts than people. The ones who leave that life behind have to prove they're more than horns and fury. They value what a person carries more than where they started. Big, horned and powerfully built, they've made their name as Nova's laborers, the ones who haul stone, raise walls and do the work others can't. In Aetheria that work earned them respect, and over time a seat in the Senate.

Names

Minotaurs follow the naming customs of the land that raised them, and many favour strong, solid-sounding names. Examples:

  • Taurino Ferrante
  • Bruna Martello
  • Duro Pietrasanta

Minotaurs by Homeland

Aetheria

In Aetheria, minotaurs work as laborers and serve as senators, about 4 to 5% of the people. Many honour Brontar, the Spirit of everyday heroism, who is depicted as a minotaur and stands for the laborer who lifts the impossible.

Roh-ber

Outside Aetheria, the wild herds are what most people know of minotaurs. Some of them fall in with the Primal Cults of Roh-ber.
